Description : One of the Scotch Settlement's most popular and best loved ladies, Mrs. Kenneth O. Melbourne, who has been in failing health in recent months and whose illness was diagnosed as incurable, passed away at The Willows Rest Home, Aurora, on Friday evening, June 29, 1962, where she had been a patient since leaving Toronto General Hospital.Mrs. Melbourne, who was Norma Henrietta Culbert before her marriage, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Culbert of Bond Head. She received her education at Penville Public School and Bradford High School and on November 10,1934, was married to Kenneth Melbourne of Bradford at Dunbarton, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Melbourne have farmed in the Scotch Settlement, R.R. 1, Bradford, and took an active part in the church and social live of the community. Mrs. Melbourne was a member of the Second West Gwillimbury Presbyterian Church and its W.M.S., and her home was always a hospitable one. She had been a member of Bradford and District Curling Club.Mrs. Melbourne is survived by her husband; her sister, Miss Wilda Culbert of Barrie; and three brothers, Jack of Bradford, George of Sudbury and Robert (Bus) of Bradford.The profusion of floral tributes indicated the popularity of Mrs. Melbourne and the sympathy felt for those bereaved by her passing.The funeral was from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home on Monday afternoon with the services in charge of Mr. L. B. Williams and interment in Bond Head Cemetery.The pallbearers were Harold Coutts, Graeme Darling, Walter Edney, Fred Gregory, John Hambly and Herbert Hodgson.Flowers were received from the Womens's Missionary Society; Second West Gwillimbury Presbyterian Church; Ontario Department of Agriculture, Barrie; Socoptimist Club of Barrie; Keyes Supplies of Sudbury; neighbours, friends and relatives.
