At the time of his death, Jim was the manager of the Bowlerama in Newmarket and probably did more to promote the cause of bowling than anyone in this area.He suffered a stroke last Tuesday and was admitted to hospital where his condition worsened. Jim was preparing for the busy fall program and another season of television shows on the local cable television channel.His passing is mourned by his many friends in this area, in the Gilford area, where he lived, and in Bradford and Newmarket.In past years, Jim won innumerable bowling tournaments and honours for himself and was to be entered into the Sports Hall of Fame this fall for his many contributions to the sport.His weekly TV broadcasts of the Bowling Scene Show where he hosted many celebrities as well as local bowlers, was watched and enjoyed by many.He was well-known across the country and in the USA by many sports people and radio and TV personalities. In his colourful past, Jim travelled extensively for General Motors Ltd., and at one time was stationed in Hollywood where his job was to see that the stars drove GM products.
