A record book of births that occurred in the Bradford area. The record covers births attended by Drs. B. L. Sinclair and Ray Judge from 1938 - 1947 and was recorded by Mae Fuller. Fuller was an area midwife and also ran a "nursing home" out of her home on Church Street.

"Had Come from Toronto Thursday - Went Bathing After Day's Work

Mushaelo (Michael) Bohoniuk, 25-year-old Ukrainian, of 70 Runnymede Rd., Toronto, was drowned in the Holland Marsh irrigation cala, at a point where the canal skirts the rear of Mr. J.W. Wilson's farm, late Saturday afternoon.
The drowned man, it appears, had come up from Toronto on Thursday and had secured work with Anglo del Zotto and F. Bollsanelo, market gardeners. Having finished work on Saturday afternoon, he had decided to bathe in the canal. Undressing and donning a pair of trunks, he left his clothes in his employer's shack, started out apparently for the canal, and nothing further was seen of him alive. ..."

Synopsis:
Age: 73 years, 9 months, 26 days. Born at Old Castle, County Meath, Ireland in 1817. Emigrated to Canada in 1819, and settled on lot 24, concession 5, Tecumseth. Married Margaret Sutherland of West Gwillimbury, and they moved to lot 4, concession 6. Widowed, and married Miss Sharpe of King Township. He had a daughter who married Ingham N. Sharpe, and now lives in West Toronto Junction. Died of a paralytic stroke. Interred at St. John's Cemetery, Tecumseth.

Description (pg 4) : At the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gerald Peterman, Bradford, Ontario, on Thursday, January 2nd, 1941, James McKinstry, in his 94th year. The funeral was held Sunday, January 5th, with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.

Description: "Bradford Pa., Star; Funeral services for Daniel Howe Neilly, 86, of the Derrick City road, who died at 12.05 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Bradford Pa. hospital from injuries received when he was struck by a car on Christmas Eve, were held at 2.30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the McAllister funeral home. ... Mr. Neilly, who was known as "Uncle Dan" to many, was well-known in this section, where he had resided for the past 33 years." ...

"Richard James Neilly, who has been a resident of Aurora for the past fourteen years, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 14 at his late residence in town. Born in Gilford, Mr. Neilly received his public school education there and later attended Bradford high school. For twenty-eight years he was the manager and buyer for the Victoria Mercantile Company, Victoria Harbour, Ontario. Moving to Drayton in 1929 he conducted a general store and later retired, moving to Aurora in 1936. Mr. Neilly was a member of the former Methodist Church and later the United Church and was also a part master of the Victoria Lodge, A.F. & A.M. for Victoria Harbour. The funeral service was conducted be Rev. H. Howey on Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home. Interment was at Coulson's Hills cemetery. The pallbearers were three cousins, William Baynes, Barrie, Wilfred Wood, Deerhurst, and Roy Kneeshaw, Bradford; and three members of the Aurora United Church, Frank Hughes, Tom Swindle, and Alex Bell. Surviving are his widow, the former Rose Baker; three sons, Homer of Ottawa, Harold of the Western University, London, and Earl of Aurora; one daughter Vivian of Aurora; four sisters, Cassie, Addie, Jennie, of Toronto, and Annie of Norland. A brother, Wesley, paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I."

"Nina Saliwonczyk, 17, who since coming to Canada had spent most of her life in the Bradford area and was known among the young people as a very bright and intelligent young girl, met a tragic death in the flaming wreckage of a car on No. 11 Highway, near Mulock's Corners, on the evening of the Civic holiday." ...
