Description : Mrs. Florence Edith Batchelor of Bradford passed away at Mount Albert on April 18, 1964, after four and a half years of failing health.Mrs. Batchelor, whose maiden name was Florence Cross, was born near London, England, and came to Bradford with her late husband's parents, after their son, Charles Batchelor, had established himself here, where he came in 1906. In April, 1909, she and Charles Batchelor were married at Bradford United Church by Rev. Long and since that time Mrs. Batchelor had been a respected resident of the town and had many friends here who missed her friendly ways when failing health demanded that she be cared for outside her own home.About twenty-four years ago Mr. Batchelor died very suddenly. She is survived by two sons, John of Barrie and Tom of Rexdale. She was also predeceased by a brother in England two years ago.Mrs. Batchelor was a member of Bradford United Church and apart from her home and church, her interest was in flowers for which she had a gift of growing.The funeral was held from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home on April 20. Rev. R. N. Jackson conducted the services and interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The pallbearers were George Stoddart, Ken Sawdon, Ted. Gapp, Jim Thompson, Wilton Johnson and Tom Gardner.

Description : The death of Mrs. Josephine Alberta Evans Batchelor, wife of John Batchelor, occurred at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Friday, May 22, following a long illness.Mrs. Batchelor, who was known as Josie" to her many friends was but in the prime of her life when her condition was diagnosed and her family and friends knew that her time was to be brief. Possibly the time of the receiving of that information and the intervening months have been as sorrowful as the parting and to those who have helplessly watched a dear one taken from them over a period of many months the sympathy of many is extended.Josephine Evans was born at Beeton forty-seven years ago a daughter of Mrs. Olive Evans of Bond Head and the late Thomas Selby Evans. She was educated at Beeton public and high schools and in 1941 she came to Bradford when her mother and sisters moved here.Here she met and married John Batchelor of Bradford who was then managing the local branch of Dominion Stores in 1944. Since leaving Bradford Mr. and Mrs. Batchelor had lived in other places where Mr. Batchelor was Dominion Store Manager before coming to Barrie where they had been for some time.As well as her husband Mrs. Batchelor is survived by their only son Wayne18 of Barrie. Also surviving are her mother Mrs. Olive Evans of Bond Head and three sisters and two brothers. The two eldest of the family live in Detroit her brother Walter Evans and sister Mrs. Bert Sellers (Tilley) and the others are here namely Art Evans of Bradford Mrs. Joseph Noble (Norma) of Bond Head and Mrs. Thomas Fuller (Marjorie) of Bradford. The bereaved family has the sympathy of many friends they having been sorely saddened by the loss of three sisters during recent years Mrs. Irene Bell and Mrs. Velma Foster predeceasing Mrs. Batchelor.Mrs. Batchelor was a member of the Anglican Church and the funeral which was held on Monday May 25 at 1 p.m. was from Trinity Anglican Church Bradford where the services were conducted by the rector Rev. E. R. Woolley assited by Venerable Allan R. Read. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery Bradford.The pallbearers were Elwood Corbett of Barrie N. Richardson of Barrie Ken. Keith of Bracebridge Ernest Hannah of Beeton Gordon Church and Robert Magloughlin of Bradford."
