Luthernas Begin Worship in Barrie

"The same Lutheran Synod which is sponsoring Trinity Lutheran Church of Bradford is beginning a new mission in Barrie this coming Sunday.
The initial service is scheduled for this Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. The place for this service in Codrington School auditorium. The preacher will be Mr. Milan Babel, who will serve the Barrie area as student pastor. The officiant will be Pastor Andrew Brondos of Bradford.
The Bradford Lutherans will journey to Barrie to join in this worship service. They will form an auto cavalcade at their church and drive to Barrie together.
The decision to begin a Lutheran congregation in Barrie came as a result f a Lutheran rally held there in February of this year. At that service about twenty Lutheran families were represented. Since then contacts have been made with several more families."

MAGLOUGHLEN, Fred - Suddenly at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Monday, August 25, Fred Magloughlen of Barrie and formerly of Bradford in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Lil Magloughlen. Dear father of Cathie Greenwood of Windsor, Karyne (Mrs. Douglas Brown) of Gilford, Laighton Magloughlen of Big Bay Point, Lisa and her fiancée, Hugh Church of Barrie. Loving grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson and predeceased by one granddaughter. Dear brother of Bert Magloughlen of Bradford, Eileen (Mrs. D. Matson) of Schomberg, Stuart Magloughlen of Beeton, Lorne Magloughlen of Cookstown, and MRs. Pat Sellars of Guelph. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, Clapperton & Worsley St. Barrie on Tuesday, 2-5 & 7-9:30 p.m. Service in the chapel on Wednesday August 27, at 1p.m. Interment St. John's Cemetery Cookstown. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

"Art Evans, MPP for Simcoe Centre and his daughter Cathy enjoy a dance last Saturday evening. The event was a beef barbeque and meet your member night held in Barrie. More than 1,000 people were on hand for the event. In addition to the food, they enjoyed dancing to music by Kitty Meredith."
