Description : Joan Frances, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Compton of Bradford, to Kenneth Lawrence Pond of Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Pond of Simcoe, Ont. The wedding took place at Bradford United Church. Rev. F. G. MacTavish officiated. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Norma Compton, as maid of honour, and Misses Marilyn Ritchie of Bradford and Shirley-Ann Deyell of North Bay, as bridesmaids. Mr. Murray Pond of Simcoe was his brother's groomsman and the ushers were the bride's brother, Mr. Gordon Compton, of Bradford, and the groom's brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Crofoot of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Pond, both of whom are graduates from Toronto University with the degree of B.A., will reside at 100 Sheppard Ave. E., Willowdale.

Description : A life-long resident of Bradford, Alexander W. Spence of 155 Barrie St. died in Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, on February 28. Mr. Spence, 72, owned and operated Spence Lumber on Bridge St. He served on the former Bradford School Board and on the Bradford Council for several years. He was active in the conservation association, served as a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the United Church. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 3 in the Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Chapman officiating. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Surviving are Mr. Spence's wife, the former Mary Brady; one daughter, Mrs. Keith (Betty) Noble of Bradford; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hammel of Bradford; one brother, Emerson of Delhi and three grandchildren, Douglas, Ronald and Barbara.Three brothers and one sister, William, Norman, Arthur and Emily are predeceased.

Description : Friends here were shocked to learn of the very sudden death of Meryl Morris, former well known resident of Bradford. Mr. and Mrs. Morris and family left Bradford a number of years ago and have been residing in Willowdale, with Mr. Morris being employed in Toronto. He was returning from his work early last Thursday morning when in downtown Toronto he collapsed from a heart attack and died. The funeral was held on Saturday to Victoria Square.
