Town's posters return to their mail sorting jobs

"Bradford's six full and part-time inside postal workers broke ranks with their union last week and returned to their mail handling jobs. Local mail is being sorted but no outside mail is moving. According to Canadian Union of Postal Workers' steward Bill Marks, the four full-time workers and two part-time mail sorters held a meeting last Friday. Mr. Marks said that they were unanimous in their decision to return to work."

Winners

"The most surprised winner at the Bradford District High School Commencement, Friday was Anne Saint. Only two award winners had not been announced before the ceremonies. Miss Saint won one of these awards - the Student Life Cup. It is given to the student completing Grade 12 who has made the most worthy contribution to school life. In addition to her many other activities, Anne is the Witness correspondent for the high school. A big winner at the Bradford District High School commencement last Friday was Jacqueline Kulha. She won the J.C. Wood Scholarship of $300 for the highest aggregate in six Grade 13 subjects. In addition, she took the Municipality of Bradford prize for the highest standing in Grade 13 and the science prize for the highest aggregate in tow Grade 13 sciences. Miss Kulha is seen here holding the J.C. Wood and Bradford prizes."

Grand opening

"Cutting the cake was the highlight of the day at the grand opening of the South Innisfil Community Centre. Above, Stewart Donnelly cuts the cake aided by members of Innisfil council and the arena board. Events were held all day to entertain the many people who attended."

Patricia Wright Graduated

"Patricia M. Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wright, R.R. #2 Stroud, graduated June 2, 1975 from Women's College Hospital in association with Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and has accepted a position on staff of Toronto Western Hospital."

In your Easter bonnet

"The Easter Parade at Sunnybrae School in Stroud was a lively event. The children of the Junior Division marched around the gym with musical accompaniment of 'In Your Easter Bonnet' to proudly model their handmade bonnets and top hats."

Cathy Trotter Grad

"Cathy Trotter has been awarded a government scholarship for two years' study at the Ontario university of her choice. An arts graduate of Brock University, St. Catharines, she will be working on her Master's degree. Cathy is the daughter of Ty and Audrie Trotter of Fennell's Corners."

Cook transferred from intensive care

"Bradford councillor Fred Cook has been transferred out of the intensive care unit of York County Hospital after suffering a mild coronary April 6. Mr. Cook is now on the medical floor and is progressing. He was taken to Newmarket by ambulance following a mild heart attack. The attack aggravated his diabetes condition. Mrs. Cook told The Witness that her husband is feeling better but it will be a while yet before he is released."

"Bradford Public School did very well last week as both the boys and girls teams won the area five baseball championships. Above in the back row from [left to right] John Kovacs, John Brosen, Jamie McKnight, Sandy Dinner, Steven Baker, Peter Dykie and Gordon Smith. In the front row are: Matthew Certosimo, Scott Feir, Peter Blackwell, John Kemp [the captain], Derrick Ross, Jeff Dodds and Steven House. The coach is Mrs. Cook."
