The son of Tobias and Maria Fizzell, he moved there from West Gwillimbury with his brother James A. Fizzell and stepbrother William Leisster and set up first a blacksmith shop, then a large hardware and appliance store. He married Anna Burdett Miller (died May 11, 1900) and they had six children.
