Description : Although during the past several years the members of her family and townspeople realized that Mrs. Belfry was fighting a losing battle for health, she never appeared to be discouraged nor to realize the seriousness of her condition and was always bright and cheerful. She had made so many trips to the hospital that only those nearest to her realized her condition when she went for the last time, and where she passed away on January 5, 1963.Mrs. Belfry was born in London, England, and received her early schooling there, coming to Toronto in 1915 where she attended High School and later worked as a stenographer. In April, 1927, she married Melburn Belfry and in 1930 they came to make their home in Bradford, where they have resided continuously since. As mother of a growing family, Mrs. Belfry's time was pretty fully absorbed at home until the last few years, when she had taken an active part in women's organizations in her church, Bradford United Church, where she was a member and her husband is a member of the Session.Mrs. Belfry is survived by her husband; her aged mother, Mrs. Martha Hawkins of Toronto; two daughters, Alma (Mrs. John Vdovjak) of Bradford, and Lois (Mrs. Robt. Murray) of Brampton; and three sons, George of Bradford; Ronald of Timmins, and Earle of Kingston. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home. Rev. F. G. MacTavish, her minister, conducted the services and interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The pallbearers were her three sons, George Belfry, Ronald Belfry and Earle Belfry; two sons-in-law, John Vdovjak and Robt. Murray; and a nephew, Larry Belfry.
