Description : Died suddenly at his home at Meriden, Conn. Born at Gilford, Ont., he had lived in Meriden for many years.A Manufacturer's Agent, he was a member of Center Lodge, No. 45, American Legion, and the Paint Salesmen's Club. He served in France as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War I.Besides his wife, Mrs. Hazel Pomeroy Bell, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Charles VanTassell; a grandson, Charles VanTassell, and a granddaughter, Cheryl Joy VanTassell, all of Meriden; five brothers, Roy and Frank Bell of Barrie, Ont., Ernest, Harold and Ross of Gilford; and four sisters, Mrs. Hedley Carnahan of Elmvale, Ont., who was visiting him, the two couples having recently returned from a trip to Florida, Mrs. Wm. Bayn;es and Mrs. Thomas Scott of Barrie, and Mrs. Robert Hood of Toronto, as well as several nieces and nephews. A sister, Mrs. Herb. Hughes (Mabel), predeceased him a number of years ago.Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Flatow Home, 48 Cook Ave., withe the Rev. Gauthrie Swartz of the First Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in East Cemetery.
