Description : Shirley Marie, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard A. Robson of Bradford, to Robert Lorne (Bob), son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Veale of Bradford. The wedding took place in the chapel of the Church of St. Barnabas, Toronto. Rev. H. G. Blake, rector of the church and formerly of Bradford, officiated. Mrs. Keith Collings of Paris, Ont., and formerly of Bradford, attended the bride. Mr. Keith Collings of Paris was groomsman. Mr. and Mrs. Veale will reside at Ajax, which is convenient to branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce at Rouge Hills where Mr. Veale is a member of the staff. The bride, who is a graduate nurse from the Toronto General Hospital, was honoured by her friends at several showers" of gifts before her marriage."

Description : Helen Gertrude, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Lloyd of the Scotch Settlement, to Budd Raymond Robson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard A. Robson of Bradford. The wedding took place in Scotch Settlement Presbyterian Church. Rev. H. Maitland officiated. Miss Margaret Kneeshaw of Gilford was maid of honour. Miss Mary Culbert of Barrie and Miss Alice Smith of Bond Head were bridesmaids, and Miss Dianne Bell of Bradford was flower girl. Mr. Henry Bell of Bradford, brother-in-law of the groom, was the groomsman, and the ushers were the bride's brother, Mr. John Lloyd of Bradford, and the groom's brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Vale of Ajax. Mr. and Mrs. Robson will reside on Simcoe Street, Bradford.
The mid-block building located on the north side at 101 John St. East was built pre-1900 in the Gothic Revival Cottage style. Originally, there was a woodshed across the back. It was the home of Mrs. Leduc or Mrs. Paul Courier, a French descendant from the old lumber mills. She wove rugs and blankets and repaired clothing. After her death the house was rented. Howard Robson and his wife lived here with part of their family, namely, Alvin, Garret and Phyllis. The building then became the home of Henry Pringle and his wife Joan. He was a retired railroad section man and owner of a garage on Holland Street. It was still the home of Joan Pringle when this photo was taken in 1995. The 1½-storey, three-bay house has a rectangular plan, a centre hall, and a symmetrical façade. Its medium-pitched, gable roof has a centre gable over the entrance. The building has small windows with low floor to ceiling heights. There are double-hung windows in rectangular openings with plain, wood frames and sills. The entrance porch, its windows, screen door, and the metal awnings are not original. A brick chimney at the exterior wall is also a recent reconstruction. The building has wood frame construction, vinyl siding and a parged stone foundation. Originally, the cladding was stucco. According to the 2000 inventory, the building’s basic form is camouflaged by the later additions. (1, 2, 3)
The two-storey house located at 78 Simcoe Road was once the home of Bob Root, his wife Sarah, and children (Bill and Mildred). The family moved here from Newton Robinson many years ago. He was a pump maker and a repairman. Howard Robson, Evelyn, Alvin, Garret and Phyllis, Budd and Shirley also lived here at one time. Howard worked on the railway and then at Bender Caskets in Newmarket. He retired and later died in this house. His wife looked after (and nursed) Miss Sterling (Stirling?), an unmarried woman who left her money to many people when she died in the 1930’s. (1, 2)

Description : Died at York County Hospital, Newmarket, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Revie and dear father of Alvin of Tonnawanda, Garnet of Aurora, Phyllis (Mrs. Henry Bell), Budd of Bradford and Shirley (Mrs. R. Veale) of Ottawa. Dear brother of Ray of Alliston. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Rested at Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford. Service was held on Saturday at 3 p.m. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
