Snow Storm 1947

One of the worst snow storms Bradford had seen happened in 1947. The snow was so high in some spots that you could touch the phone lines. This picture shows Lew Campbell atop one of the drifts, somewhere in the north end of Bradford. James Bell

James Bell was the Great Grandfather of Lylia Culbert. He was born January 3, 1831 in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe County, Ontario. His parents were James (born 1797) and Margaret Brown (born 1799) who were married in 1826. His brothers Andrew (born 1827) and Robert (born 1829) were born in Jedburgh, Scotland. James Bell married Isabella Wood on November 13, 1855 and farmed Lot 11 Con. 13 in West Gwillimbury. He died in 1911.

RCAF Bomber crashed

RCAF bomber crashed on marsh in early 40's. Plane was not badly damaged as it plowed into muck B.B. Dodger Collings hired to jack it out and bring it to Bradford on scow. This is at the dock in Bradford. Tom Collings sitting on his dads boat, not that there are spaces between the slats on the boat. These boats were used to keep fish alive until people came to pick them up in tank trucks.

Bradford H.S. Students - 1951/52

Shown in this photo are several recognizable teachers including Constance Nolan, Mrs. V. Jenken, Mr. E. Devlin and Bernard Horne.

Class room in Bradford High School

Room 5 of Bradford District High School during the 1952-1953 school year. Originally a cloak room it was converted into a classroom to hold 12 students. At The Dance

Dance in the basement assembly room of Bradford High School. Shown in the photo from left to right are George Petro, David (Zeke) Lee, and Emil Maslak. During the dance the boys sat on one side of the room and the girls sat on the other.

Looking West 1948
