An 1904 reprint of part of the April 2nd, 1863 edition of the South Simcoe Times. It was printed by the Bradford Witness as part of the "Bradford 4_ Years Ago" series. It has happenings related to Bradford ratepayers and town council.

"Robert Brown of West Gwillimbury Township, recently joined the ranks of relatively elite professionals. Earlier this year Mr. Brown was given accreditation as an appraiser by the Appraisal Institute of Canada. It took him 10 years and a lot of study to attain the position. Brown says his new status won't change much. He points out that he only has six or so years until his retirement and he is happy working for the ministry. However, he didn't completely rule out the possibility of hanging out a shingle and going to work for himself. But right now, he is going to sit back and enjoy life."

"About 50 Holland Marsh farmers are suing the Townships of West Gwillimbury and King, claiming damage to crops in August because of flooding. The farmers served notice of their intentions through their lawyers last month, saying the two municipalities neglected to clean the Schomberg River, and that the pumps at a pumping station didn't work during the heavy rain of August 16. The petition signed by the farmers was sent to the councils by their lawyer Norman Borins of Toronto. It states that because of the failure of the pumphouse much of the land near or level with the river was covered with water. King Mayor Margaret Britnell said the township has no obligation to the farmers because the cleaning of the canal and pumping operations are under the jurisdiction of the Holland Marsh Drainage Commission. Council agreed to receive the letter and send it on to the commission. West Gwillimbury council has referred the matter to the township's insurance company, Frank Cowan Company Limited."

"Frances Reid, vice-chairman of the West Gwillimbury planning committee, has been appointed to the Simcoe County and Orillia Housing Authority, Minister of Housing John Rhodes announced last week. Mrs. Reid has served on the planning committee for almost two years and has worked with the Ontario Municipal Board and the Greater Toronto Assessment Board for 27 years. The appointment on the authority runs for three years. The Simcoe County and Orillia Housing Authority studies government-subsidized housing in Simcoe County, including senior citizens' apartments and low-cost housing."

"The Tee-We-Gwill chapter of the Women's Institute held their first meeting with this year's officers last Monday night at the home of Mrs. Barbara Wilcox on Beeton Road. The Women's Institute was originally founded in Ontario to educate women in rural areas in the homemaking field. Since then it has become a world-wide community services oriented organization. The Tec-We-Gwill chapter sponsors a Can-Save Child in Austria, as well as sponsoring the Tec-Gwill 4-H Club for young women."

"Chamber of Commerce President George Allison explained the set up of this year's Bradford Salad Festival Committee to a gathering of more than 50 representatives from local, civic and service organizations during a dinner meeting at Toby's Restaurant last week. This year, the Chamber of Commerce is acting as an umbrella organization for the event. This year's Salad Festival will be held on the July 18, 19 weekend."

"West Gwillimbury Township council appeared to be quite a sedate crew in 1903, when this week's historical photo was taken. Standing are John Lee, grandfather of Sam Lee of Bradford; Charles Stewart; and S. George Hodgson, father-in-law of Mrs. Ernest (Lillian) Hodgson of Frederick Street, Bradford, who submitted the photo.
