Salad Queen 1976

Pretty 18-year-old Annette Grencer was chosen Salad Queen for the Festival. A student at Bradford District High School and the daughter of a marsh farmer, Annette was chosen over five other contestants. This photo appeared with a group of others in The Witness entitled "Bradford's year in photos."

Boyd, Harold

Fire chief Harold "Butch" Boyd. This photo accompanied an article about his death at the age of 64 which appeared in the Bradford Witness.

Salad Festival Parade

Thousands of people jammed Holland Street last July for the annual Salad Festival parade. Blessed with warm weather and sunny skies, the festival drew record crowds.

This photo appeared with a group of others in The Witness entitled "Bradford's year in photos."

King, Walter & Stella

Bradford's Walter King was 31 years old when this photo was taken in 1914. Mr. King is shown with his new bride Stella Kneeshaw. The wedding took place two days before on the Kneeshaw farm on the 6th line of West Gwillimbury and the couple moved to Mr. King's farm down the road where they lived until 1943. When Mr. King was 95, he lived in retirement on John Street in Bradford.
