Manning, Samuel obituary

Synopsis:
Age: 73 years, 9 months, 26 days. Born at Old Castle, County Meath, Ireland in 1817. Emigrated to Canada in 1819, and settled on lot 24, concession 5, Tecumseth. Married Margaret Sutherland of West Gwillimbury, and they moved to lot 4, concession 6. Widowed, and married Miss Sharpe of King Township. He had a daughter who married Ingham N. Sharpe, and now lives in West Toronto Junction. Died of a paralytic stroke. Interred at St. John's Cemetery, Tecumseth.

Bradford man fourth in sheep dog trails

"The tenth running of the Canadian Open Sheep Dog trails, held in Bond Head last weekend, drew contestants right from Oregon through to Nova Scotia. In spite of inconsistent weather, Dog trail organizer Bill McMichael says, "the spectator attendance was about the same as last year, standing at about 1,000 over the two days." He also said, 'The interest in sheep dog running is very strong in the U.S. However, there the interest is more in running the dogs than in the spectator sport.'"

Officials discuss office future

"A meeting was held Sunday evening to discuss the future of the Bond Head Post Office. Above, [left to right], A.R. Secor, area manager; Bradford postmaster, Keith Stevens and the organizer of the meeting, Mrs. Lynda Usher, consider the future. Although an advertisement has been placed for a new postmaster, no one has applied for the position, About 50 villagers attended the meeting."
