BELL Beatrice May -- On Thursday, September 25, 1986, at York County Hospital, Newmarket, Beatrice May Bell in her 90th year, loved wife of the late Chillion Bell, dear mother of Bill Pestill, Arthur Pestill, Mary Bell (Mrs. J. Heron) and Thomas Bell. Will be missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Resting at the Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Dr., Newmarket after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service to commence at 7 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, London, Ontario, on Saturday 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated.

Kushner, Ira death

Man killed in boating accident on Holland River. A 34-year-old Toronto man was killed last Tuesday (July 15) in a boating accident just north of the Yonge Street bridge coming into Bradford. Ira Kushner fell from a boat pulling a water skier when the boat's driver swerved to avoid what he thought was an obstacle in the path of the boat and skier. According to York Regional Police, the boat hit a patch of bulrushes, and Mr. Kushner fell overboard and hit his head on the boat's propeller. He was pronounced dead on arrival at York County Hospital in Newmarket. The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m., about one and a half miles northeast of the bridge over the Schomberg (Holland) River. The police investigation is continuing.

Woman killed in accident on Hwy 11

Woman killed in accident on Highway 11. One woman is dead and three others are in hospital after a Saturday morning accident at Highway 11 and Highway 88. Nancy Theodoru of Toronto was a passenger in the car driven by her husband George. She was killed when the car collided with a pick up truck, Bradford OPP report. The truck was driven by Frank Anzil, of Klienburg [sic]. His wife Tina was a passenger. The three people are in serious condition in hospital. Bradford Fire department responded to the emergency call and used the "jaws of life" to release Mr. Theodoru from behind the steering wheel. It was the first time the equipment has been used, other than in practises [sic], since the money to purchase it was donated by the Lions and the Rotary Clubs about a year ago. Mr. Anzil used to own what was known as the Anzil plaza in Bradford, on the north side of Holland Street West. Charges are pending in the incident.
