Chappell, 51, leading agriculturist in Simcoe County, died on Friday at Royal Victoria Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Chappell became interested in farm organizations as a young man and served for ten years as secretary of Simcoe County Federation of Agriculture. He was closely connected with the rural life conferences held each fall in this county and he had been instrumental in the major part of the organization of the conference last fall although, due to his illness, he was unable to attend. He was well-known in his capacity as judge over the past 25 years at school and fall fairs. He leaves his wife, the former Helen Fisher, and two children, Sylva and Bruce. Funeral service takes place today at 2 p.m. in Crown Hill United Church with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A fervent royalist, Mr. Evans thanked former clerk-treasurer Margaret Davey, and former assessor Fred Collings for their support. Mr. Evans, a former Reeve of Bradford, is a Queen's Counsel, and practices law with the firm Evans and Evans.
