Description : John Fieldsend, a native of West Gwillimbury, suffered a stroke and died at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church in Cookstown. Interment at St. John's Cemetery in Cookstown.

Highway 11 accident kills Gilford woman

"Gilford - a Gilford woman was killed and two persons were sent to hospital in a traffic accident Wednesday (Jan. 14).
Jean Taylor, 69, was fatally injured when the car she was driving southbound on Highway 11 struck another head on, Bradford OPP report.
The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m., near the 11th Concession. Mrs. Taylor's car was on the wrong side of the road, police report.
Raoul Tremblay, 76, of Churchill, was driving the northbound car. He and his daughter Violet were taken to York County Hospital.
Approximately $14,000 damage was done to the two car.
Bradford OPP are investigating the accident. No charges have been laid."

Description : Age: 64 years, 6 months. Died of Bright's disease. A carriage maker by trade. Born in Kilhampton, Cornwall, England, on March 1st, 1836, the eldest son of John Chedister Hockridge. Settled in Bradford in 1856, after first going to Bowmanville and Newmarket. Married Miss Elizabeth Ann Peat, of Bowmanville, in 1860, and he died on the day of their fortieth anniversary. Brother of Mr. William Hockridge, of Cobourg, and Mrs. McElwin, of Toronto, and has another brother and sister in England. Survived by his widow, and three children: Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Whiteside, and W.J. Hockridge. Interred at Mount Pleasant.
