Baird, 78, who was chief engineer in the construction of the Canadian portion of the Blue Water Bridge, linking Sarnia and Port Huron, Mich., opened in 1938. Mr. Baird died on Monday in hospital in Sarnia.He and his father drained Holland Marsh and also set up the Pelee Island drainage system.He was city engineer for Sarnia during the First World War and had his own land surveying and engineering practise in Sarnia until 1938.Mr. Baird was born in Lemington and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1911. He had lived in Toronto for nine years.He is survived by his wife, the former Edythe Long, who has frequently been a guest of her cousins, Miss Elizabeth Wood and Miss Bessie Wood, and by his daughter Mrs. Marshall.

The unique large bake oven is located in the kitchen wing of the Harrison house. This large oven is fifty-nine inches deep and forty-six inches wide. There is no coal chute so ashes were raked out the opening.
