Newspaper article from 1886 about a fire that destroyed buildings on the town's main thoroughfare and the fire suppression efforts of firefighters and citizens.
Two page hand-written letter in black ink tied together using a green piece of ribbon, with a blank covering page. Letter is addressed to George and Hettie (Banting) Atkins and signed from Thomas Reynolds, Ellen Reynolds, E. J. Chapman and Catherine Chapman. Given to the Atkins at the time they moved from the community.
(on the top side): "Father" (on the front side): "Ira Belfry, died July 11, 1887; Aged 79 years, 7 Mo, 23 Days. May he rest in Peace" Ira settled on lot 14, con. 8 in 1830 where a one acre site for the Primitive Methodist Church, a cemetery and an early school was later built.
Photograph of William Campbell, Grain Dealer. Father of William L., Elizabeth F. And Dr. Lewis Campbell. His branch of the Campbell clan was from Caithness, Scotland. At an unknown date they moved to Ireland. William was born in Kilglass, County Sligo Ireland in 1838. He emigrated with his family in 1857 to Traverse City, Michigan. In about 1860 he came to Canada first settling in Brantford, then Newmarket. He was sent to Bradford by his Newmarket employer in 1862 to open a grain and lumber business.
Certificate of Good Conduct given to Libbie Campbell by Bradford Model School. Libbie was the daughter of William Campbell (a grain dealer) and Bessie Sutherland Campbell. The certificate has "186_" printed on it and "89" was hand written beside this.
An image of a card of thanks to the people of Bradford for their support, printed in the newspaper. It is related to the drowning of William Sutherland in the Holland River and is from his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alex Sutherland.
