Candidate for mayor: Frank Jonkman

"Frank Jonkman got into politics very much the same way that he got into the greenhouse business - to meet a need. Jonkman started by building greenhouses for his father's farming operation, using recycled materials that included old television aerials. In the 1970s, other Marsh farmers began to call on him for help with putting up their greenhouses, as his reputation gre for getting the work done at a reasonable cost..."

B.B. Collings Furniture Store

The article accompanying this photograph gives a quick history of B.B. "Ben" Collings' life and business. By this point, his furniture and undertaking business was only four years old (starting in 1902) and the storefront is shown in the photograph, located on the south-west corner of Holland and Drury Streets. The post office is opposite. It was said in the showroom, there would "be found some of the nicest furniture one could wish to place in his home."
Starting in 1897, Ben spent four years studying the mattress making trade in Toronto.

Photograph of William Campbell, Grain Dealer. Father of William L., Elizabeth F. And Dr. Lewis Campbell. His branch of the Campbell clan was from Caithness, Scotland. At an unknown date they moved to Ireland. William was born in Kilglass, County Sligo Ireland in 1838. He emigrated with his family in 1857 to Traverse City, Michigan. In about 1860 he came to Canada first settling in Brantford, then Newmarket. He was sent to Bradford by his Newmarket employer in 1862 to open a grain and lumber business.
