Workers can't look after the quantity of containers that is accumulating and you will help them by attending to this matter promptly."
"Advice to Owners of Submerged Motors One of our local garage men has suggested that owners of all motor vehicles and motorized equipment, which has been submerged in water, heed the following advice: 'Do not turn over motors until magnetos and ignition system have been thoroughly dried out.' "
Two articles on health and safety of residents affected by the Hurricane Hazel flood. The crops are considered condemned because of their submersion, and advice on fixing your own submerged tractor.
"The washed out bridge on Concession 14, West Gwillimbury, might have claimed the lives of two brothers, Eddie and Paul Renald. Going to the store at Fennells for groceries their car plunged into the swollen stream at the washout and was carried about 100 yards downstream and cast up into the bush a total wreck. The brothers smashed the windshield and managed to crawl out and reach land but one suffered a broken arm and both were badly bruised and cut."

"Personal disability adding to the confusion of getting copy written for this week's newspaper, in which it is desirable that as much of the March flooding disaster be recorded as possible, a report of some of the plans as reported in the Globe and Mail are being copied. ..."
"Conditions are never so bad but what they can be worse. The utmost care must be exercised to prevent danger from disease at this flood time. The Health Department has issued a warning about water. All water must be boiled for at least ten minutes. Bringing the water to a boil does not kill all germs - a ten minute boiling is necessary. As a safety precaution this office would suggest that the water from every well and water service be given this treatment until such time as the water from that source has been tested and passed by the Ontario Department of Health."

Part of a collection of Professor William H. Day's work equipment, donated by Joe Saint. Both the case and level were originally owned by Professor William H. Day, who was integral to the Holland Marsh Drainage Scheme's beginnings. The equipment was traded to Len Saint in the 1930s for a truck. The survey of the marsh determined the elevation of the muck soil and the bordering "highland" soils, providing the information the planners would need to determine the grades, estimate the materials to be moved and to determine the alignment of the canal.
