Description : Death came unexpectedly to one of West Gwillimbury's most highly esteemed residents, Mr. H. R. Wilson, on Monday, April 4. Mr. Wilson had apparently been in his usual good health until the last.Son of the late James Wilson and Agnes Robinson, he was born on lot 3, con. 9 in the Township of West Gwillimbury, on the 25th day of August 1875, on the farm on which he died. He spent his entire life in the Township of West Gwillimbury in the County of Simcoe. He was a life long farmer and took a keen interest in Municipal and Educational affairs. For many years he was secretary of the Ontario Trustees and Ratepayers Association (Rural Division). On October 28th, 1906, he married Effie Banting, daughter of the late Charles Banting and Jane McDermott. Through this union three sons and two daughters were born, Neil, England; Marjorie (Mrs. Herbert Goss), Orillia; Gilbert H., Cooksville; C. M. (Mac) on the old homestead, and Jean, Phm.B. of Toronto. He loved his church, always being a staunch Presbyterian, and for many years was elder of Bond Head and later Bradford Presbyterian Churches. During Church Union in 1925, he upheld the doctrines and Rules and Forms of Procedure to which he so ardently adhered. The funeral service was held from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home in Bradford on April 6, 1955 to Bond Head Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. E. C. McLarnon, New Toronto, former pastor of the Bradford Presbyterian Church, assisted by a friend of over thirty years, Rev. C. R. P. Hearn, rector of Bond Head Anglican Church. His sudden passing came as a great shock to his immediated relatives and numerous life long friends. He leaves, besides his widow and immediate family, to mourn his loss three brothers and two sisters: Mary J. (retired registered nurse), Toronto; Rev. Dr. Gilbert Wilson, Trumansburg, N.Y.; Rev. Dr. W. G. Wilson, Victoria, B.C.; Dr. J. J. Wilson, Burks Falls, and Margaret, of Winnipeg. Two brothers predeceased him, Rev. Dr. R. J., Toronto, and Thomas A. of Regina. Most numerous and beautiful were the floral tributes. Friends and relatives attended from Burks Falls, Orillia, Alliston, Beeton, Cookstown, Newton Robinson, Bond Head, Aurora and Toronto. The pallbearers were Stanley Cairns, Milton Ritchie, Donald Ramsay, Allan Ramsay, Dalton Jackson and James Steers.
