Description : Emil Samsel, 53, of R.R. 5, Barrie, was found frozen to death on Monday near a concession road five miles north of Barrie.Children came across the body, which was lying at the foot of a small bridge crossing the concession road. Police were told Samsel had visited a farm that was for sale during the weekend with a real estate agent but later decided to hitchhike home alone.As he walked along the road he apparently suffered a seizure and, unable to get assistance, was exposed to the near-zero temperature.Samsel leaves his wife and two children.

Description : A lifelong resident of the Pinkerton area of West Gwillimbury, Wilfred Law passed away at a nursing home in Collingwood on Saturday, March 10, following a long illness. In February of 1948 Mr. Law suffered a stroke and was taken to Alliston hospital where he was a patient for more than three years before being moved to the nursing home in Collingwood. He was 79 years of age.Mr. Law was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Law and was born at Pinkerton on the Law farm where he spent all his active years. He attended Pinkerton School and then farmed on the home farm. He never married, and is survived by his brother, Melburn Law of Pinkerton and one sister, Mrs. Charles Hindle of Innisfil.He was a member of Pinkerton Anglican Church and in politics was a Conservative. Of a quiet disposition his interests were largely in his farm. He admired good horses and usually owned good ones.The funeral was held on Tuesday from the Lloyd Hughes Funeral Home in Cookstown, with interment in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Cookstown. Rev. Canon Chaperlin of St. John's Church conducted the services.The pallbearers were Messrs. Seward Lee, John Parks, Borden Andrews, Dalt. Meher, Elmer Webber and Roy Davis.
