Description : Mrs. George Jeffery passed away at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, on Monday afternoon, September 17, in her 75th year. She was preparing to leave the hospital after a foot operation when seized with a heart attack.Born on the 9th
Concession of West Gwillimbury, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Long, her maiden name was Annie Louise Long. She attended Fisher's Corners School and was a member of Sutherland's Methodist Church in her youth. On September 4, 1901, she married George Jeffery, who predeceased her in September 1945. She lived all her life in West Gwillimbury until about a year ago when she took up residence in Beeton, where she was member of Trinity United Church.Mrs. Jeffery is survived by five daughters and five sons, namely, Elizabeth (Mrs. Roy Armstrong) of Beeton; Frances (Mrs. Russell Grant) of Toronto; William G. of Orillia; Josephine (Mrs. Erwin Letts) of Beeton; Harvey of Weston; Roy of Toronto; Leonard of Alliston; Elsie (Mrs. Howard Cole) of Cookstown; Iva (Mrs. Kenneth Robinson) of Cookstown, and Gordon of Schomberg. Also surviving is one brother, Carmen Long of Calgary, Alta., as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.Rev. G. W. Gardner conducted the funeral service in Trinity United Church, Beeton, on Thursday, September 20th. Interment was in Bond Head Cemetery.The pallbearers were Messrs. Alex McKean, Hilliary McCarl, Arthur Ford, Ed Woods, William Copeland and Whit Jessop.The flowerbearers were Messrs. Bill Armstrong, Joseph Armstrong, Ross Armstrong, Gordon Armstrong, Ralph Thompson, Harry Sutherland, Allan Westlake and Jack Gray of Bradford.
