Description : The death occurred at York County Hospital, Newmarket, on Tuesday, January 4, of Mrs. Lawrence Church of Bradford. Mrs. Church had been in poor health for several years, during the early years of which she had been cared for at her home here by members of her family. In more recent months she had been with her daughter, Mrs. O. Gould in Newmarket, from whose home she was moved to the hospital a few weeks before her death. Mrs. Church was the former Mabel May Saint and was born in Bradford and had spent her entire life here where she was well liked and held in high esteem by all who knew her. On April 26, 1911, she married Lawrence Church of Bradford, who survives her, with their family of three sons and three daughters, namely, James and Gordon of Bradford, John of Schomberg, Mrs. O. Gould (Marion) of Newmarket, Mrs. R. Curtis (Eileen) of Kirkland Lake, and Mrs. W. Covert (May) of Barrie; and fourteen grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. W. Reeves (Sadie), and Mrs. Jas. Armstrong (Jane), and one brother, Leonard Saint, all of Bradford. Mrs. Church was a devoted mother, wife and sister, and will be sadly missed in her home and among members of her family, among whom she was held in sincere affection. She will also be missed by townspeople, especially in the women's groups, where she had long been a faithful worker in the W.A. of Trinity Anglican Church and Bradford Women's Institute.She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church.The funeral was held from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon. Services were conducted by her rector, Rev. W. S. Johnson and interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. Six nephews were the pallbearers, namely, Norman and Roy Church and Larry Saldeld, all of Pontiac, Mich., and Ken, Mel and Roy Saint of Bradford.

Description : The death occurred at Dunnville on Thursday, January 20, of Mrs. E. P. Snow in her 89th year. Mrs. Snow will be remembered by old time residents of Bradford. Her husband was in business here known as a sadler business, and Mr. and Mrs. Snow resided in the house on John
Street now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Saxon. After Mr. Snow's death, some thirty years ago, Mrs. Snow moved to her home town of Dunnville and had since resided there.Throughout the years Mrs. Snow never lost interest in Bradford and her friends here. She kept herself informed of people here through this newspaper. Mrs. Snow was a very active worker in Trinity Anglican Church during her residence in Bradford. Mr. Snow had for many years been a valued member of that church's choir. Trinity church's choir gowns and mortar board hats were presented to the choir by Mrs. Snow in memory of her husband.

Description : Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Brinkos of Bradford, to John Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Molokach of Bradford. The wedding took place at Holy Martyrs Church, Bradford. Rev. F. R. McGinn officiated. The bride was attended by Miss Paula Sakalik as maid of honour, and five bridesmaids, namely Miss Mary Yesanko of Toronto, Miss Mary Uhrin of Hamilton, and Misses Mary Kavchak, Mary Simurda and Mary Sklencar, all of Bradford. Miss Emily Radvansky of Toronto was flower girl. Mr. Paul Holancin of Bradford was groomsman and the ushers were Mike Simurda, Messrs. Mike Kulha, Edward Gres, Joseph Brinkos and Joseph Klic. Mr. and Mrs. Molokach will reside in Bradford where the groom is in business with his father. Before her marriage the popular young bride was guest of honour at a large shower given by Mrs. Kulha, Mrs. Sakalik and Mrs. Julie Brinkos.

Description : The finding of a coat, hat and tie on the bank of the canal, west of the bridge, last Thursday by three fishermen started a police search which disclosed a receipted bill from Barrie Hydro to William Semenuk in the pocket of the coat. Almost certain that Mr. Semenuk must have inadvertently drowned, Chief Constable Earl Copson and Constable George Burbidge of Bradford began dragging operations and located Mr. Semenuk's body quite near to the place his clothing had been left. The clothing was rain soaked, indicating that it had been on the bank during the heavy rains of Tuesday night. Mr. Semenuk returned to Bradford from Barrie about a year ago and had been making his home here, but during the last two or three weeks had been in Barrie. On Tuesday evening he came here, presumably to visit his brother. His whereabouts after that is not definitely known but the removal of his hat, coat and tie indicate that he slipped and fell into the canal while washing. Mr. Semenuk was widely known in this district. There were few trades to which he could not give the hand of an expert. After the installation of a water service in Bradford, between twenty-five and thirty years ago, Wm. Semenuk did a great deal of plumbing in the homes here. He was rated as a near genius in making electrical repairs, especially in radio work. Until about a year ago he was trouble man at the General Electric in Barrie and a testimonial letter given to him by that company upon his retirement was one of his proud possessions. Recently he had been working on TV work. Mr. Semenuk was born in the province of Northern Butowina, now a part of the Ukraine, and came to Canada in 1908, living at Lachine, Quebec, for the first six years before coming to Toronto. He came to Bradford in 1921, and, though moving away from here a number of years ago, he had always kept in touch with his friends here. His first wife died about ten years ago. He is survived by his second wife, whom he married in Barrie; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth, now in Owen Sound, and Mary (Mrs. Bruce) in Toronto; one son, William, in Toronto; and his brother, Gregory, in Bradford. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. The funeral services were held on Saturday from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home. Services were in charge of Rev. W. Johnson, rector of Trinity Anglican Church, Bradford. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The pallbearers were old friends, namely, John Grakul, Wm. Decyk, Nick Werklack, Steve Kawchak, George Sadowchuk and Jas. Pelowich.

Description : A West Gwillimbury Township son, and a brother of the Township's Reeve, Dr. Ernest R. Selby passed away at his home in Calgary on Friday last, June 17. Dr. Selby had not been well during the past several months, due to a heart condition, and the message informing his family here of his death was not entirely unexpected. Born on the Selby farm, lot 12,
Concession 9, West Gwillimbury, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Selby, Dr. Selby attended Bowles' school and Bradford High School before taking his medical course at Toronto University. After his graduation he specialized at Gravenhurst Sanitorium, St. Louis, and at the Mount Royal Hospital in Montreal, before going to Calgary where he established a practice. He was in Calgary about two years when early in the First Great War, 1914-1918, he offered his services to his country. At that time western Canada units were not being recruited and Dr. Selby came east and signed as a medical officer. During his term of military service he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and also won several medals for distinctive service. The was over he returned to Calgary and about two years later he married Laura McQueen of that city, who survives him, with their two sons, Dr. Raymond Selby and Bill Selby, both of Calgary. Also surviving are two brothers, Percy and Cyril Selby, both of Bradford; and three sisters, Mrs. Roy Kneeshaw (Mary) of Bradford, Miss Lena Selby, R.N., of Asbury Park, N.J., and Mrs. George Thomas (Stella) of Orange, N.J. Dr. Selby was a member of the Anglican church. He was a Mason, having joined Simcoe Masonic Lodge, No. 79, Bradford, before going to western Canada. He took much interest in the St. John's Ambulance Corps and had an outstanding record in instructing for this Corps. The funeral was from his home in Calgary with interment in that city.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Norma Compton, as maid of honour, and Misses Marilyn Ritchie of Bradford and Shirley-Ann Deyell of North Bay, as bridesmaids. Mr. Murray Pond of Simcoe was his brother's groomsman and the ushers were the bride's brother, Mr. Gordon Compton, of Bradford, and the groom's brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Crofoot of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Pond, both of whom are graduates from Toronto University with the degree of B.A., will reside at 100 Sheppard Ave. E., Willowdale.
