Married Mary Woods in 1882, daughter of John Woods, who died when she was very young, and Eliza Belfry Woods. Lived in a small house on what is now the Clubine farm, first owned by Mark Scanlon Sr., his son William Johnston Sr., and the latter's son-in-law J.A. Dutcher. Moved to Watford about 1885 before going to Manitoba, and, in 1918, Vancouver. Interment in Oceanview Burial Park, Vancouver.
