Flt.-Sgt. Harold Wilson Reported Missing After Air Bombing Operations

"Mr. and Mrs. Daniel wilson, of Bond head, have been notified by Ottawa that their second son, Flt.-Sgt. Harold (Chub) Wilson, is missing after air operations over enemy territory. The entire crew of his craft failed to return and as yet there is no information regarding their fate, although authorities assure the parents that information is being sought through the Red Cross regarding them."

Description : Husband to Agnes Cerswell (nee Speers), father to Mrs. Jeffery (Christeen) of Detriot, Mrs. Heppleston (Jean) of Toronto, Mrs. Kract (Alice) of Niagra Falls NY and one son, Gordon who died at war. He died in his Bradford home in his 74th year and will be interred at Bond Head Cemetery.

E. Jeffs & Son - Felicia the Heifer cow

This photograph is of Felicia, bred by Edward Jeffs & Son. The Jeffs were well known stock-breeders who have owned their property on the 6th Concession since 1837. They first started with Shorthorn cattle, Leicester sheep and Berkshire pigs, and by 1906 were breeding show-winning animals.

Bradford man fourth in sheep dog trails

"The tenth running of the Canadian Open Sheep Dog trails, held in Bond Head last weekend, drew contestants right from Oregon through to Nova Scotia. In spite of inconsistent weather, Dog trail organizer Bill McMichael says, "the spectator attendance was about the same as last year, standing at about 1,000 over the two days." He also said, 'The interest in sheep dog running is very strong in the U.S. However, there the interest is more in running the dogs than in the spectator sport.'"

"Maude Jackson shows seven-year-old Michelle Harris how to knit a sweater for the upcoming frosty days of winter. Knitting was just one of many attractions at Pioneer Day last week at Sir William Osler School near Bond Head. The entire school and many area residents took part in the event."

Karen Cummings officiated. Maid of honour was Janet Schroeder, Bradford, and bridesmaids were Beverly Langlands, Mississauga and Janet Hiltz, Milton. Michael Snowball, Stouffville, was best man and ushers were Douglas Snowball, Stouffville and Andre Lavictoire, Stouffville. A garden reception was held at the home of the bride's family at 22 Cambridge Cres., Bradford.Mr. and Mrs. Snowball will reside in Toronto.

Rested at the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford until Saturday at 11 a.m. Funeral service was held at St. John's Anglican Church, 6th Line, Tecumseth on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Masonic service in the funeral home Friday at 8:30 p.m. Spry Lodge, Beeton, officiating.
