Description : Months of suffering were terminated by the death of James Coutts at his home in Bradford early last Thursday morning. Through his long illness, Mr. Coutts, who was in his 38th year, remained cheerful and interested in his family and friends, bearing without complaint the pain of disease and the knowledge that he could not recover. He had spent sessions in hospital and undergone surgery in a vain effort to save his life but the last days were spent in the new home he completed building shortly before he lost his health.Born at Dalston, Mr. Coutts was the second youngest member of the family of seven sons and daughters of the late Mr. Duncan McCardy Coutts and Mrs. Ella Edwards Coutts. Raised on a farm in the Thornton district, Mr. Coutts had resided there until coming to Bradford in December, 1945, where he was employed in Barron's Hardware. On October 21, 1944, he married the former Lillian Munro of Barrie, who, with their son Glenn, 8, survives him. Also surviving are two brothers, Vearl of Bradford and Lennard of Orillia; and four sisters, Mrs. M. H. Lowrie (Jeanne) of Pine Grove, Ont., Mrs. Arvid Malmberg (Olyve) of Tupper Lake, N.Y., Miss Margorie Coutts of Toscon, Arizona, and Mrs. Bert Kenny (Beth) of Phelpston, Ont. All members of the family were here last week the exception of the sister in Arizona.Jim Coutts was liked by everyone around Bradford. Very quiet in disposition, apart from his home his chief interest was in sports. He was an Anglican in religion and a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Bradford. The funeral was held on October 2 from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home, Bradford, with services conducted by his rector, Rev. W. S. Johnson. Interment was in Barrie Union Cemetery. The pallbearers were the two brothers of the deceased, Vearl and Lennard Coutts; two nephews, Robert and Jas. Lowrie, and two intimate friends, Edward Gapp and Keith Kilkenny.
