Community : Other - Bradford Street : Lot : Concession : 0 Description : Highly esteemed throughout her long life and possibly Bradford's eldest resident, Mrs. James Mills passed away at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Sunday, February 19, following a brief illness. Mrs. Mills had enjoyed remarkably good health for a lady of her age, she being in her 94th year, until suffering a stroke a few days before her death, after which pneumonia developed.Mrs. Mills maiden name was Catherine Delaney and she was born in King Township, coming to Bradford at an early age. The family lived here for a short time before moving south of the river to Amsterdam, which was a thriving village at that time, boasting two sawmills, a store, a hotel, and a settlement of houses, many of them being located along what is now known as the old road." Her father was employed at one of the sawmills and she attended school at Amsterdam school. She became a resident of Bradford again when as a young woman she married James Mills who was a butcher here.Mr. Mills predeceased his wife many years ago but she kept her home here usually going to Oshawa to spend the winters with her sister-in-law Mrs. Julia Mills McCrea and returning to her own home in the spring. It was only last fall that she gave up her home here realizing that she could no longer manage alone.Mrs. Mills retained her interest in her friends here to the last.She is survived by one sister Annie Overs of Toronto and many friends. Three brothers Jim Karen and Eddie Delaney and a sister Mary predeceased her.A devout Roman Catholic her funeral was held from Holy Matyrs' Church Bradford on Tuesday morning with interment in Newmarket Roman Catholic Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. F. R. McGinn."

Community : Other - Bradford Street : Lot : Concession : 0 Description : A lifelong resident of the Pinkerton area of West Gwillimbury, Wilfred Law passed away at a nursing home in Collingwood on Saturday, March 10, following a long illness. In February of 1948 Mr. Law suffered a stroke and was taken to Alliston hospital where he was a patient for more than three years before being moved to the nursing home in Collingwood. He was 79 years of age.Mr. Law was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Law and was born at Pinkerton on the Law farm where he spent all his active years. He attended Pinkerton School and then farmed on the home farm. He never married, and is survived by his brother, Melburn Law of Pinkerton and one sister, Mrs. Charles Hindle of Innisfil.He was a member of Pinkerton Anglican Church and in politics was a Conservative. Of a quiet disposition his interests were largely in his farm. He admired good horses and usually owned good ones.The funeral was held on Tuesday from the Lloyd Hughes Funeral Home in Cookstown, with interment in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Cookstown. Rev. Canon Chaperlin of St. John's Church conducted the services.The pallbearers were Messrs. Seward Lee, John Parks, Borden Andrews, Dalt. Meher, Elmer Webber and Roy Davis.
