A son of the late Francis and Jane Roberts, Bismark Roberts was born March 15, 1873, on the farm on which he resided for all but four years of his life, and which his son Gerald now occupies. A beautifully located farm on
Concession 11, with a view over Lake Simcoe, Mr. Roberts loved his farm and the work associated with it, and he was noted for the fine quality of produce and stock raised. He not only did his work well but took enjoyment and pride in doing it. When advanced years forced his retirement from the farm and it was taken over by his son, Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts did not leave the familiar surroundings, but took up residence on Highway 11 at Coulson's Hill, near to their church, St. John's Presbyterian, and among their old neighbours. In 1908 he married Maude Wood, who survives him, with one son, Gearld, and one daughter, Mrs. J.W. Booth (Ruth) of Stockton, California. There are four grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Cecil, of Ridgeway, and two sisters, Mrs. C. McAfee of Toronto, and Miss Ida Roberts of Port Colborne. The funeral was held on Saturday, May 24, from St. John's Church, Coulson's, where he had been an active worker and member during his life. The services were conducted by his minister, Mr. E.C. McLarnon, and interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church. The pallbearers were Jack Roberts, Alton Roberts, Dr. C. Carr, Clarence Moriarity, Edwin Fennell and Kenneth Giffen.
