Description : James Thomas Earl McVety of West Gwillimbury had known for some time that he had a heart condition which required that he refrain from strenuous exercise. He was able to be about his farm, however, and attend to light duties. He was so employed at the barn on his farm on the morning of Saturday, October 15, when he suddenly expired. He was in his 63rd year.Born at Warkworth, the son of Mrs. McVety of that village and the late Mr. James McVety, the deceased spent his childhood in that area, attending school in Percy Township, Northumberland County.At Campbellford on September 22, 1915, he married Caroline Stillman of Vernonville, Ontario, who, with his aged mother, three daughters, one son, and a brother and sister survive him. Lottie and Miss Eleanor are living in Toronto. His son, Everett, is at home. His mother and his brother, Milford, live in Warkworth and his sister, Mrs. Evelyn Jacobs, is in Toronto. Four grandchildren also survive.A farmer all his life, Mr. McVety came to West Gwillimbury Township in March 1940. He was a member of the L.O.L. and had served as a public school trustee.The funeral was held on Monday, October 17, from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home, Bradford, with services being conducted by Rev. E. C. McLarnon, formerly of Bradford Presbyterian Church, now of Toronto. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.The pallbearers were neighbours and relatives of the deceased, namely, Percy Selby, Herbert Bowles, Robt. English, Ernest Ellison, Jack Stillman and Charles Bull.
