Description : Mrs. Emma Doan Sturgeon, the last surviving member of one of Queensville district's oldest pioneer families, passed away in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on May 2, 1962.Mrs. Drury was the daughter of the late Ezra Haines Doan and Rachel Lundy Hughes of Queensville. She was first married to Rev. Robt. Sturgeon, Presbyterian minister of Bradford, in 1898. They had three daughters and one son, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Mary Martin and Miss Norah Sturgeon, who lived at home with their mother; Mrs. Richard Lein (Kathleen), Lockport, N.Y., and Wm. R. Sturgeon of Tecumseth, Mich. There is one granddaughter and one great granddaughter also in Michigan. Rev. Sturgeon died in 1921 at Mt. Forest where he was minister at that time.In 1924 she married Dr. Jas. Drury of Ypsilanti, Mich., where she has resided until her death. Dr. Drury predeceased her in 1929.The late Mrs. Drury has one niece, Mrs. Walter Shoup of Toledo, Ohio, and one nephew, Dr. Haven F. Doan of Franklin, Mich. Also, she was a great aunt of Mrs. Robt. L. Pritchard, Newmarket and Mrs. Wilbert R. Dew, Queensville.Service was held in Ypsilanti on May 4, following which the body was brought to Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, Newmarket, for service on Saturday, May 5. Rev. R. McNaught of Queensville conducted the service and interment was in the family plot in Newmarket Cemetery. The pallbearers were Dr. Leland Sturgeon of Welland, Kenneth and Edgar Sturgeon of Churchill, Linwood Sturgeon, Bradford, Robt. Pritchard, Newmarket, and Wilbert Dew, Queensville.
