"Eighty years old and almost blind, Alfred Tout of Newmarket is launching a business that he hopes will bring him enough money to buy a house. Alfred has turned his life-long hobby, weaving bamboo furniture, into a full-time job so he can get out of the senior citizens' apartment he and his wife moved into a few years ago. "You can't do anything there (at the seniors' home). You can't hammer, own a dog or cat or anything. Some people might like to sit around and do nothing, but not me." Alfred used to have a workshop in his Bradford home before he moved to Newmarket. He misses the freedom of having his own house..."

"John Diefenbaker's scheduled October 15 tour of York Region may be temporarily postponed due to the sudden illness of Mrs. Diefenbaker, The Witness learned yesterday. Mr. Diefenbaker had been scheduled to address a dinner in Nobleton, and visit the Auld Kirk Cemetery in the Scotch Settlement. The visit will be re-scheduled for some future date if the former prime minister is unable to come to the area."

I'm finally here! Elinor and Steve Geniole (Schlarb) are tickled pink with the arrival of Alisha Bete, making her entrance on December 20, 1990 [sic] at 9:25 p.m. and weighint in a 7 lbs. 12 ozs.
Proud grandparents are Elizabeth Schlarb from Bradford and Henry Schlarb from Toronto and Sue and Ron Geniole fromKeswick. Great grandmother Pearl Geniole from Keswick.
Thanks to the nurses on the Maternity Ward and Drs. Joutsie and Rouselle, York County Hospital.

Faith and charity - this was Pat Andrews. . . . Patricia Ann was born September 29, 1935, the daughter of the late William Bygrove and the late Elizabeth Hunt. She was raised in Toronto's east end and attended St. John's Elementary School and St. Joseph's College and, later, gradated from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto in 1067 with an honour degree in Latin and English. She taught at West Hill Collegiate, Oakwood Collegiate and Sir Sandford Fleming Secondary School. Thirty-two years ago she married Jack Andrews in St. John's Catholic Church on Kingston Rd. In 1970, Pat and Jack moved to Cookston and Pat gave up teaching to raise her family. . . .Sons Martin, Lawrence, Vincent and daughter Catherine Ann and her dear husband Jack.
