Dimock's Garage

This building is near or is where the Royal Bank is now located on Holland St.

From the Bradford Witness: "Dimock's Garage was an important business in Bradford in the early 1930's when this photo was taken. Harold Iceton, who submitted the photo writes: "Mrs. Al Dimock, affectionately known as Minnie to her many friends (gave me this photo). The photo dates back to 1931 when Albert Dimock first started up business in Bradford with his young son Hedley. They were soon joined by his wife Minnie and daughter Eileen. This building has now been demolished and replaced by the Royal Bank Building."

Bemrose Co. Storefront

The article accompanying this photograph gives a quick history of Bemrose Co. General Store, owned by the Bemrose brothers John and James. Their father, John, was a contractor and was well known in the town, a reputation which was passed down to the brothers. This store in the photograph was run by James Bemrose alone after his return to Bradford in 1901 in the former store of J.S. Boddy, and was in the same block as the Edmanson businesses on Holland Street (near 71 Holland St. East).

Bradford Citizens' Brass Band

The article accompanying this photograph mentions the Brass Band of Bradford, organized in 1870 and directed by John H. Hockridge. It became the 35th Battalion band in 1874, organized by William A. Armstrong.
