It was Miss Margaret Davey's special night last Friday at the Bradford Community Centre as about 250 friends gathered to pay her tribute. "Peg" as she is known to her friends, was the clerk-treasurer of Bradford for almost 35 years, retiring last Marsh. Former Mayor Joe Magani in photo with miss Davey referred to her as "the big wheel," and former reeve, mayor and MPP Art Evans said Bradford was in excellent financial shape primarily because her efforts.
In Bradford Presbyterian, Marilyn M. Ritchie was wed to Gordon W. Compton.
MPP Earl Rowe was in town last week to present certificates to lawyers Charles. T.S. Evans, and his brother, Brock Evans. The elder Evans was honored for the 60th anniversary of his call to the bar, and Brock Evans was honored on the occasion of his 52nd year of practice.

(From the left) Deputy-reeve Milt Hambly, Councillor Sandy Hudson and Reeve Ken Wood of Bradford were present at the opening of the Professor E.A. Smith Natural Resources Educational Centre last Wednesday. The centre is located on the ninth concession east of Highway 11. The 600-acre conservation area will be used to teach students from separate and public school boards about flora and fauna of the surrounding forest.
This is was the home of John MacDonald Campbell and his wife Edith Rose and is where they raised their nine children. This photo appeared in The Bradford Witness and South Simcoe News on June 8, 1983.
