Description : The grandson of Anna Petro was kidnapped while they were vacationing in Florida. The kidnappers stole the vehicle of Mrs. Petro and took her grandson Ronald with them because he was in the backseat when they stole it. About 45 minutes later the kidnappers released Ronald at a gas station where he called the police and was safely returned to his grandmother.

Tyrwhitt/McClocklin house on Concession 7, Lot 11, . It was built by Lt.-Col. Richard Tyrwhitt, who called it "Farmcote." The property was bought in 1911 by Felix Smelser. He and his sons Frank and Norman farmed there and his grandson Jim McClocklin (son of Elena Smelser and her husband James H. McClocklin) lived in this house until the land was sold for industrial use and the house torn down.
West Gwillimbury council has nominated Earl Rowe of Newton Robinson to receive one of the jubilee medals being minted by the federal government in recognition of Queen Elizabeth's 25 years on the throne. Mr. Rowe is a former MP and MPP and he was Ontario's lieutenant-governor from 1963 to 1968. Bradford council also recently nominated lawyer Charles Evans, former Warden of Simcoe County to receive a jubilee medal.
