Centenarian passes away by Joan Hebbes
100-year-old Elsie O'Neill passed away peacefully in her sleep last Sunday, at Aurora's Willows Estate Nursing Home.
Born in 1891, Elsie lived in England until age 17, when she emigrated to Canada. Four years later, in 1912, Elsie married Ambrose O'Neill and lived on the O'Neill farm just north of Bradford, where they raised nine children.
Elsie celebrated her 100th birthday on Dec. 13, along with many family members including grand children and great grandchildren. The staff at The Today and Simcoe York Printing and Publishing send the O'Neill's [sic] our heartfelt sympathy.

Faith and charity - this was Pat Andrews. . . . Patricia Ann was born September 29, 1935, the daughter of the late William Bygrove and the late Elizabeth Hunt. She was raised in Toronto's east end and attended St. John's Elementary School and St. Joseph's College and, later, gradated from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto in 1067 with an honour degree in Latin and English. She taught at West Hill Collegiate, Oakwood Collegiate and Sir Sandford Fleming Secondary School. Thirty-two years ago she married Jack Andrews in St. John's Catholic Church on Kingston Rd. In 1970, Pat and Jack moved to Cookston and Pat gave up teaching to raise her family. . . .Sons Martin, Lawrence, Vincent and daughter Catherine Ann and her dear husband Jack.

"Pte. Long's Death.

Weston, April 12 - (Special) - Rev. Dr. Long received word to-day of the death of his son, Pte. A. G. Long, by shell shock in Belgium on March 29th. He was with the 18th Battalion, and formerly with the Goodyear Company at Calgary. He was well known at Brampton and Bradford. Pte. Long spent Christmas Day in the front line of trenches. Two brothers and two sisters and the parents survive."
