This image documents the 8th Canadian Field Ambulance at the time of the signing of the armistice ending WWI on November 11, 1918 and can be found in a war photograph album belonging to Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Raymond Selby. The photographs in the album are both original photographs taken by Dr. Selby and copies of official Canadian military photographs. Selby was born in and grew up in the Bradford West Gwillimbury area before moving to Calgary, Alberta. Many of the men pictured were awarded medals in recognition of honour and/or bravery.

Myra Wood was a nursing sister during the First World War.

Baldwin H.W. Stoddart was a Sergeant of the 48th Highlanders of Canada during World War II.

Jesse Turton, son of Roy and Hannah Turton (nee Harvey), who served in World War II.

One of Myra Wood's military medals for her service in World War I as a nursing sister, serving in Greece, England and Malta. This is the Victory Medal, for all who served in the First World War or in Russia from 1919-1920.

If you want your family history to be included, the Project must receive your information by October 1st! WWI Vetereans...To date, the project has the names of only 2 persons who served in WWI and returned home.

Photograph of Owen Smith (1920-1943), son of Ann "Jennie" Smith (nee Martin) (1881-1947) and James Albert Smith (1878-1956). Owen was reported missing in action on March 23, 1943.

Jennie was the daughter of Thomas Martin (1840-1919) and Elizabeth Martin (nee Lee) (1850-1936). Elizabeth Lee was the daughter of Thomas Lee (1794-1868) and Ann Lee (nee Graham) (abt. 1825-1903).
