From the Yesterday section of the Bradford Witness: "Mrs. Earl Bowles submitted this week's photo of the Bradford Methodist Church taken before the First World War. The building still occupies a prominent spot in the town just north of the post office on Barrie Street and has since become the Bradford United Church. The trees which used to shade the street are long gone, but many of the older house along that street, including the church, are in excellent condition."
This article was written by the Bradford West Gwillimbury Heritage Committee in commemoration of Ontario's Heritage Week. It briefly looks into the histories of the Trinity Anglican Church, and its neighbouring Rectory.
"The first year-round residents of the Marsh arrived in the late autumn of 1934 and took up residence in the row of houses shown in the above picture. They were families from Holland and they named their village Ansnorveld. Members of the Christian Reformed Church, after selling their first crops, built the first church on the Marsh, also shown above, in the spring of 1936. Today there are two beautiful Christian Reformed churches on the Holland Marsh."
"Every year, Bradford's Trinity Anglican Church holds the largest charity auction in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Items up for bids range from the sublime - a diamond ring, donated by Universal Gems; a hot air balloon ride donated by Hugh Adams - to the downright silly. Last year, under the direction of auctioneer Allen Homer, bidding was fierce for the right to shave off the beards of two hirsute volunteers. This year, the event will be raising funds to install a handicapped access ramp and an elevator at the church. The auction takes place Friday, May 13th, 7:30 p.m. at the Bradford Arena. There is no admission charge. Refreshments can be purchased."
