Description : William Ernest Baker, 87, retired United Church clergyman, died last Wednesday after a long illness.Born in Bradford, Mr. Baker preached for four years in Simcoe County before his ordination in Victoria College, Toronto, more that 60 years ago. He was the last surviving member of his ordination class.He had charges at Sundridge, Hillsdale, Downsview, Westmount Methodist Church in Montreal, Colborne Chruch in Brantford; and in Toronto, the Wesley Methodist, Dunn Avenue United and Howard Park United Church. He served at St. Paul's United Church, Orillia, for nine years prior to his retirement in 1939, and had been living in Toronto since.His wife, the former Annie Lennox, died six years ago. He leaves two sons, L. Lennox, with whom he had been living, and Dr. Stanley E. Baker; two daughters, Mrs. E. B. Code of Perth and Mrs. H. F. White of Toronto, 11 grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
