The community was saddened to hear of the death of one of the pioneers of this area and send condolences to her family in the area. Pearl Rebecca Chappel passed away peacefully at Eureka Chalet Retirement, Barrie on Saturday, Jan. 26 Pearl Rebecca Hardy in her 90th year, beloved wife of the lat Harry Chappel. Dear mother of William Chappel and his wife Ethel; Elizabeth (Mrs. Calvin Gibbons) both of Barrie and Shirley (Mrs. Allen Prophett) of Scarborough. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Complete funeral service at Innisfil Community Church was held Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 1pm. Internment [sic] in the spring at 6th Line Cemetery, Innisfil. She was a true pioneer being born in Lefroy and marrie Harry Chappel Oct. 20, 1920 by Rev. Chapley of Stroud at Lefroy. She also had four sisters and one brother born in Lefroy. They were Sarah (Mrs . MarshallAtkinson), Susan (Mrs. Wm. Ruffett), Jack Hardy who was married to Gertrude Everton of Gilford; Georgina (Mrs. Bob Gibbons), Phoebe (Mrs. Frank Chappel). She was the last of that family....

This portrait is of Edward A. Little, son of W.C. Little of Innisfil Township. Both Edward and his father were political men (his father being the MP of South Simcoe from 1867-1881), while Edward became MPP for the District of Cardwell in 1894.

"Everyone knows Barrie has its Kempenfelt Kelly, reportedly seen from time to time in the bay. But did you know Innisfil Township has a monster, too? Grades 5 and 6 at Innisfil Central school built a 30-foot Innisfil Iggy as a snow sculpture exhibit for the Innisfil Winterama. Although Iggy was not a prize-winner, he inspired teacher Ray McDonnell to write a poem about it."
