Description : Marilyn Marie, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Milton Ritchie of Bradford, to Gordon William Compton, only son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Compton of Bradford. The wedding took place in Bradford Presbyterian Church. Rev. E. C. McLarnon of Toronto, and formerly of Bradford, officiated. The bride had four attendants. Mrs. Robert Miller of Newmarket was matron of honour, the bridesmaids were Mrs. Keith Collings of Cayuga and Miss Margaret McInnes of Toronto, and little Miss Donna Glassford, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The groomsman was Mr. Robert Hanna of Toronto and the ushers were Mr. Robert Veale of Toronto and Mr. Keith Collings of Cayuga. Mr. and Mrs. Compton will reside in Bradford.

Copeland, Russell and Myrtle 65th Anniversary

Myrtle and Russell Copeland celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

"It was a day for memories, a day always to be cherished by Russel and Myrtle Copeland, by friends and family , who came to celebrate with them on their 65 Wedding Anniversary. There was an Open House, held at their home in Newton Robinson on Sunday, May 7, 1989.
A large turn-out came from all over Ontario despite the inclement weather to share in the celebration of this respected couple's festive occasion and to share their memories.
It was on May 7, 1924 that Russel Copeland and Myrtle Bateman were married at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Bond Head by Rev. Charles Hearn. They settled on the family farm on the 8th line of West Gwillimbury for several years before moving to their present home in Newton Robinson.
Russel purchased his first livestock truck in 1926 - a hard rubber tire model T. That same year their eldest son Laurence was born, followed by Stanley ... " The rest of the story is cut off.

Groomsman was Allan Houghton of Newton Robinson and ushers were Lawrence Copeland, brother of the groom, and Robert Newburn of Midland. Couple will live at Newton Robinson. The bride is a 1952 graduate of the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing at Barrie.
