This image documents the 8th Canadian Field Ambulance at the time of the signing of the armistice ending WWI on November 11, 1918 and can be found in a war photograph album belonging to Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Raymond Selby. The photographs in the album are both original photographs taken by Dr. Selby and copies of official Canadian military photographs. Selby was born in and grew up in the Bradford West Gwillimbury area before moving to Calgary, Alberta. Many of the men pictured were awarded medals in recognition of honour and/or bravery.

"While working in the flower-bed at the front of the bradford Presbyterian Church this summer, Mr. harvey Curry dug up a small object which turned out to be a button off a soldier's uniform. A little rubbing revealed the number "30" inside a raised circle on which was the word "Cambridge"
Local veterans being unable to identify it, Mr. Curry wrote to the Royal Canadian Military Institute in Toronto and received the following reply:" ...

"National Homes hosted this community event at the Bradford Public Library, November 7th in honour of Canada's veterans. National Homes has named the streets in their community of The Forest after WWI and WWII veterans and unveiled the names at this event..."
