He Shook A Lot Of Happy Hands

Mathew Kneeshaw, the Simcoe County Board of Education Trustee, was one of the key people in the 112th graduation exercises at Bradford District High School. He presented prizes and diplomas to the graduating students, two of whom are Martha Verhaaff and Nancy Jean Burton. Martha was the junior valedictorian, and Nancy Jean gave the address for the senior class.

Highway 11 tangled due to blizzard

Tangle of cars, buses and snowplow on Highway No. 11 north of Bradford was being cleared to remove bottleneck in Ontario's main north-south highway yesterday when Globe and Mail plane slid down for a close view, which is looking north. Sunday night some 500 motorists were stranded in this region.

Hockey Award Winners

Bradford and District Minor Hockey Association held its season-ending awards night for house league and all-star clubs Monday. Individual novice and atom most valuable player awards were given to (front row from the left) novice house league goalie Grant Campbell, novice forward Steven Arrigo, and novice all-star Danny Zielke. Back row (left to right) winners are atom house league forward Scott Brethet, atom defenceman Jim Whitton, atom goalie Bruce Robson, and atom all-star Jon Harris. Missing was novice defenceman Wade Harrison.

James Bell

James Bell was the Great Grandfather of Lylia Culbert. He was born January 3, 1831 in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe County, Ontario. His parents were James (born 1797) and Margaret Brown (born 1799) who were married in 1826. His brothers Andrew (born 1827) and Robert (born 1829) were born in Jedburgh, Scotland. James Bell married Isabella Wood on November 13, 1855 and farmed Lot 11 Con. 13 in West Gwillimbury. He died in 1911.
