Phillips, William P. obituary

Description : Died at his home in his 92nd year. He had been confined to his bed for about two weeks and appeared to suffer a stroke a week prior to his death. Born on the farm on the first corner south east of Bond Head, which his father received from the Crown. He resided there until about twenty years ago, when he sold to his brother-in-law, Mr. A. E. Watson, and retired to his home in the village. A school-mate and lifelong friend of Sir Wm. Mulock, an athlete in his younger days, and an enthusiastic huntsman.Born of an old Quaker family, he later became a member of the Methodist church in Bond Head and latterly United Church. Mr. Phillips married Henrietta Watson, member of another pioneer family of the district, predeceasing him eleven years ago. Of a family of four sons and four daughters, one son and three daughters survive, namely, Dr. Arthur Phillips, Toronto; Mrs. Wm. Doyle, Saskatoon, Sask., Mrs. Robert Leeson, Newton Robinson. He was predeceased by his sons Frank, Percy and Dr. George, and one daughter, Evelyn. The funeral was held Nov. 17th from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Leeson, to Bond Head cemetery. Rev. Kendall of Bond Head officiated, assisted by Rev. A. G. Channen of Bradford.Pallbearers were Messrs. Jas. Coburn, Leonard Jackson, Seward Lee, William Hambly, John Woods and Thos. Robinson.

Memorial service, Sunday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, Bond Head. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity St. John's Sunday School, Bond Head.

Wilbert Keith Orr, 75, of Bond Head, died Friday, January 18 at the York County Hospital, Newmarket.
Son of Andrew Orr and Jane Campbell, both of Dufferin County, he was born Feb. 16, 1909 in Tecumseth Township. He was married Mar. 8, 1941 in the bride's home to Jean Lisk and has lived on the fifth line of Tecumseth and in Bond Head....Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Donna, Mrs. Andrew Rabiewsky, two grandchildren,three sisters, Marion Craog, of Tornoto, Maida Ritchie, of Beeton and Madeline Porritt, of Gilford and one brother, Wm. J. Orr, of Tottenham....

Age: 73 years, 9 months, 26 days. Born at Old Castle, County Meath, Ireland in 1817. Emigrated to Canada in 1819, and settled on lot 24, concession 5, Tecumseth. Married Margaret Sutherland of West Gwillimbury, and they moved to lot 4, concession 6. Widowed, and married Miss Sharpe of King Township. He had a daughter who married Ingham N. Sharpe, and now lives in West Toronto Junction. Died of a paralytic stroke. Interred at St. John's Cemetery, Tecumseth.

Description : Died at York County Hospital, after several years of failing health and a recent eye operation. Husband of the late Edith Phillips. Brother of John and Christopher Lee of Bradford. Born in West Gwillimbury to a pioneer family. Was a farmer on Highway 27 until he sold his farm 28 years ago, after which he moved to Bradford and sold farm implements. He had sold this business a year before his death. After his wife died he sold his home on Church St., buying a home on John St. from his brother, Mr. John Lee, to be nearer his business. Rested at home. Funeral on October 18 at 2 p.m. Service in Trinity Church at 2:30 p.m. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Coulson's Hill. Masonic auspices.
