May postpone planned tour by Diefenbaker

"John Diefenbaker's scheduled October 15 tour of York Region may be temporarily postponed due to the sudden illness of Mrs. Diefenbaker, The Witness learned yesterday. Mr. Diefenbaker had been scheduled to address a dinner in Nobleton, and visit the Auld Kirk Cemetery in the Scotch Settlement. The visit will be re-scheduled for some future date if the former prime minister is unable to come to the area."

"Outdoor festivals face an all-ir-nothing kind of scenario, If the weather is fine, the crowds come out. If it rains, as it did for the 2014 Carrotfest, it can be nothing short of disaster for the vendors and event organizers. That was one reason the Town of Bradford West Gwililmbury agreed to hold the opening ceremonies for Carrotfest on Friday night, endorsing an evening of live entertainment outdoors at the main stage, and encouraging downtown businesses to co-ordinate a Midnight Madness shopping event - although the street festival would still take place on Saturday. ..."

Organizing the Salad Festival

"Chamber of Commerce President George Allison explained the set up of this year's Bradford Salad Festival Committee to a gathering of more than 50 representatives from local, civic and service organizations during a dinner meeting at Toby's Restaurant last week. This year, the Chamber of Commerce is acting as an umbrella organization for the event. This year's Salad Festival will be held on the July 18, 19 weekend."

"Timmy and Tammy were in Bradford last week to generate support for the Snowarama to be held February 13 from Varley's Marina. From the left are Bradford Mayor Roy Gordon, former mayor Joe Magani, Timmy (Kevin Collins of Orillia), Tammy (Patty Doak of Newmarket), Whipper Billy Watson, and Aurora Mayor George Timpson. The Snowarama is in its third year, and it's purpose is to raise money for crippled children in Ontario. Whipper Watson has been involved in the Ontario Crippled Children's Society for the past 28 years."
