Million dollar wreck

"A freight train with 22 cars filled with gravel tore up 100 feet of track after it hit a spot on the tracks that was washed out by the more than three inches of rain that poured down on Bradford and Holland Marsh. Damages is estimated at over $1 million for the train wreck alone."

Train wreck of April 14, 1928. The CNR train crashed just past the Bradford station as it was heading southbound across the river. Engineer J.W Brooks died from this crash, and was found in his seat when the wreck was recovered. He died from the force and circumstances of the derailment. There was no known cause of the derailment.

Train wreck of April 14, 1928. The CNR train crashed just past the Bradford station as it was heading southbound across the river. The train was carrying a load of silk from Japan (via Vancouver) to New York, and a cargo of frozen fish from Vancouver.
