Description : The 5th Anniversary of the WEGWHIST (West Gwillimbury History) Project will take place on October 19th, 1:30 p.m. at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library. The meeting will feature a presentation of 2 copies of Governor Simcoe Slept Here: The Legacy of West Gwillimbury Township to representatives from each school in BWG, thanks to a generous local patron. The meeting will also feature a display of the development of the book, from the first list of the Table of Contents, through to the final text approved for printing - a once-in-a-lifetime happening. There will be a social time, to chat and reminisce. All are welcome to attend.

Description : The WEGWHIST (West Gwillimbury History Project) Christmas Party is planned for Friday, December 10th, 2 p.m. in the Compton Room of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library, at 100 Holland Court. WEGWHIST members and anyone who helped with the book are invited to attend. Around 2:30 p.m., a photograph will be taken of the group, to be included in the book.

Description : The final galley is back, and WEGWHIST volunteers are busy correcting spelling errors and misprints in the History of West Gwillimbury. This will complete the writing phrase; there is a commitment from the publisher that the book will be out by early December. October 13, 2005, will mark the 4th anniversary of the first WEGWHIST meeting, which took place on the 2nd Thursday of October, 2001. The team will meet at 2 p.m. on the 13th in the Bradford Library, to go over marketing plans, ask for help in contacting all those who have indicated an interest in buying the book, and offer an opportunity to purchase a copy, pre-publication. "Bradford library is being whipped into shape. There is a new head librarian with new ideas. Ann Marie Newman started part-time in February and last week she began full time. Anne Marie is from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and she studied sociology at Dalhousie University. After graduation, Ann Marie was taken on staff of the University library. For two and a half years, she catalogued books in the Special Collection department. "I worked with all facets of technical library skills," explained Ann Marie. Dan Blake of Bradford's Library Board interviewed her and in February Ann Marie became head librarian."

"A surprising number of people living in and around the Bradford area don't even know the town boasts a flourishing public library. Tell them that it's situated right across from the IGA and they'll be even more astonished. But, with a membership of better than 1,150 and still climbing, reading is obviously a popular activity in Bradford, and for that, book-lovers and those who only use library facilities now and again, can thank Library Administrator Gertrude Melbourne, assistant Amanda Kneeshaw and library secretary Susan Klop, all of Bradford."
