Friends called at Lathangue and Skwarchuk Funeral Homes, 30 Simcoe St. Bradford. Funer MAss was held at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, Bradford on Friday July 24th, 1992 at 10 a.m. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa. Donations to the York County Hospital Cardiac Care Unit.

Dear daughter-in-law of Louise Evans and the late Jack Culbert. Dear sister-in-law of June and her husband Doug Batten, Gloria and her husband William Freifield, Donald Culbert and his wife Elaine. Dear grandmother of Melissa and Ryan Chaput. Friends called at the Lathangue and Skwarchuck Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St. Bradford. Service was held in the chapel on Tuesday January 5, 1993 at 2 p.m. Interment Bond Head Cemetery.

This is a small tin container, engraved with "Shephard & Morse Lumber Co/Boston, New York, Burlington, VT AND Ottawa, Canada." The company was in operation under this name from 1877 - 1935.
Part of a collection of woodworking tools and items owned by Walter Reeves and Joseph Mark (Mark was original spelling before it changed to Marks). Reeves was Bradford Town Constable and Mark was a railway worker. Donated by their grandson, Bill Marks.

Survived by his mother (a former resident of Bradford), and wife, the daughter of Dr. C.E. Graham, of Hull (married October 1904). Died in Ottawa. Interred in the family plot in Tecumseth, near Bradford.

Description : After not enjoying good health for the past five years, Mrs. Ellen (Nellie) Collings of Bradford passed away at York County Hospital, Newmarket, on Monday, November 28, 1966, where she was admitted just one week previous. Born in Ottawa 73 years ago, she went to Kerrobert, Sask., as a young girl, where she resided until her marriage to Ernest R. Collings on June 10, 1914, when she moved to Bradford where she resided for the remainder of her life. Up to the time of failing health, Mrs. Collings was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and active in the church choir, quilting club, and a lifetime member of the Women's Auxiliary. She was also a life member of the Women's Institute, and a charter member of the I.O.D.E. and the Bradford Knitting Club. Predeceased by her husband in 1950, she is survived by four sons and three daughters: Mrs. Ellenor Peat of Newmarket, Mrs. Ross Griffith (Anita) of Bradford, Roy A. of Oshawa, Mrs. Gerald Rupke (Margery) of Kettleby, Irwin E., W. Bruce, and Keith R., all of Bradford, 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Mrs. Emily Foster of Kerrobert, Sask., a sister, and two brothers, Arthur Sutton and Albert Sutton, both of British Columbia. The funeral was held on December 1, 1966, from the Lewis Funeral Home to Trinity Anglican Church. The service was conducted by her rector, Rev. W. H. Warnica. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The pallbearers were Norman Collings of Bradford, Dr. Verdon Foster, V.S., of Fergus, Bob McCague of Sarnia, Jim Church, Orville Hand and Edward Bulpit, all of Bradford.

Padre Hopkins had a distinguished 32 year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, including service with the RCHA in Korea in 1953 and the first Canadian contingent of the United Nations Emergency Force in the Sinai. He was the first Chaplain awarded the Order of Military Merit and ended his military career as Chaplain General. ...

Ottawa - Serving in Egypt 50 years ago was an eye-opener for Ormond Hopkins, a padre with the Royal Canadian Army Chaplain Corps. Not only did he have to cope with the heat, sand and flies, he also had to adjust to the local culture.
On New Year's Eve, 1956, Mr. Hopkins, an Anglican priest known as Hoppy to his friends, had the opportunity of observing Egyptian culture at close range. The brass had booked two belly dancers from Cairo to entertain Canadian troops and, as a man of the cloth, he felt obliged to protest the salacious nature of the festivites..."

"The Right Honorable John Diefenbaker receives a mounted replica of a portion of the press plate used in printing his article "My First Prairie Christmas" which appears in the December Canadian Reader's Digest. Making the presentation to Mr. Diefenbaker in Ottawa are roving editor Robert Collins (left) and Digest editor Charles Magill. In the Digest article, Mr. Diefenbaker describes how his first Christmas in the prairies in 1903 reaffirmed the values he was learning day by day; the warmth of family, the loyalty of friends, the special kind of goodwill that reaches out to those less fortunate."
